Tangible View Cube

by sunithbabu on April 1, 2009

Autodesk Labs, has always been in favor of customer feedback and improving newer and better working experience with Autodesk tools through research and development. Although many such R&D projects have come out to the commercial world, I’m waiting for this new project called Autodesk Tangible View Cube

The Tangible View Cube is almost similar to the view cube incorporated in most of the 2009 Autodesk product family, although view cube helps the user in getting the appropriate views he wishes but the transition is virtual within the computer., If this transition can be controlled by a physical moment a user can analyze the rate at which the transition takes place.

Tangible View Cube, a small, wireless hand held device used for controlling the orientation of an on-screen 3D model. The Tangible View Cube is a physical representation of the View Cube® available in many Autodesk applications. The interaction with the cube does not require a user to be a product expert to change the orientation of the on-screen 3D model. The cube has a single button on the top: one click unlocks the sensor inside the cube and the user can change the orientation of the 3D model. Click again to lock the orientation, and pass the tangible device to another person to share. You can see the Tangible View Cube at work in this video:

However I’m hoping to see these features as an add on in the latest or future release of Autodesk Inventor

This seems to be really good, I’m a computer graphics designer and never dreamed of such a technique to connect the physical world with virtual world in a small cube.

I’m impressed by the way autodesk making progress.

The technology is pretty cool, I now see that Human Computer Interface is enhancing and these technology would be a better learning module for the young generation to understand the concept of computer graphics.

Sunith, you try to bring in better news and updates about autodesk even before I try to see in top news websites. I would be happy to bookmark your site if you bring in tutorials related to Autodesk Inventor 2010.
