The internet growth rate has been so fast, we cannot remember or recall how the websites have grown since their origin in the world wide web.
As per the Domain Name Industry Brief published by VeriSign Inc, the Internet now has as many as over 183 million (18,30,00,000)domain names in the first quarter of 2009.
This number is a 3 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2008 (when I purchased this website) and a 12 percent increase over the same quarter in 2008.
The total number of domain names in India was 1.4 million as on March 31, 2009, with approximately 800,000 .com and .net domain names.
Dot com ( .com ) remains the most popular domain extension, followed by .cn (China), .de (Germany) and .net respectively.
The total number of Country Code TLDs (ccTLDs) – .in, .ch, .us etc represents 74.1 million domain names in the internet.

Well back to our topic,
Autodesk was founded way back in 1982, when I was just a 4 year old Kid playing at my “Kinder Garden” @ Bangalore. As I starting growing and studying and playing, Internet was slowly booming up and today 2009, the above statistics give you an idea about the vertical growth.
