ADN Plugin of the Month: Screenshot for Inventor Now Available

by sunithbabu on February 4, 2010

From its read me: “The Screenshot plugin can be used with Inventor [2010 (32-bit and 64-bit)] to simplify the process of capturing images of parts of documents, or the entire document or application windows. It optionally allows you to remap the background to white and the foreground to black, and convert the entire image to grayscale, as well as sending the capture image directly to a printer.”

The plugin was written by Xiaodong Liang based on a plugin for AutoCAD developed by Kean Walmsley. I guess the Inventor developers had clipboard envy. Alex Fielder and Fenton Webb provided helpful input during the design and testing of this plugin. So please try this out, look at the source code, and see how to program your own add-ons for Autodesk Inventor. Let us know your thoughts at

    Hi,
I had created a similar plugin for Inventor 2008 version and yet to port it to 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Shall try to do it ASAP and update on my blog http://www.smallguru.com

I would like to see that, good, you did it even before Autodesk could do it . . .

This plug-in was not written by Autodesk but a fellow Inventor user. We were happy to share it with the author's permission.
