The Autodesk® Certified Instructor program is designed for professional educators who instruct with Autodesk software. Based on a long-term commitment to education, the ACI program provides instructors and teachers with a globally recognized accreditation by Autodesk.
The ACI program is based on standardized requirements for various skill levels on Autodesk software. These requirements are described in the Industry Standard documents, which feature a modular content framework to help instructors acquire the skills necessary to teach these solutions.
The ACI program also provides an in-depth evaluation of an instructor’s proficiency with Autodesk solutions and the instructor’s ability to train others.

- Attend the ACI Workshop
Candidates may submit an ACI application* via the Professional Instructor Community.
*Before applying to the ACI program, candidates must have successfully completed the Autodesk Associate/Professional exams, failure to do so will automatically result in application rejection.
Upon application approval, candidates will receive a confirmation detailing the next steps.
The ACI Workbook is a self-study course and exam that helps candidates prepare for the Workshop.
Once the necessary fees have been paid, candidates are enrolled in the ACI Workbook and Workbook Knowledge Test (WKT). Candidates will have 45 days to complete both the workbook and WKT and must pass a score of 80% or higher in order to proceed to the Workshop.
The ACI Workshop is a three-day assessment where candidates teach two modules from the Industry Standard documents which are randomly assigned on the first day. Candidates will be evaluated during the workshop on their teaching style and practical (applied) knowledge of the material presented. Each candidate must pass the ACI Workshop to become certified.
What happens during an ACI Workshop?
Candidates must come to the Workshop prepared to teach any module from the Industry Standards for both fundamental and intermediate students. You will be asked to present two modules which are randomly assigned to each candidate on the first day. After each 45-minute presentation the Autodesk Certification Evaluator (ACE) and your peers will provide you with constructive feedback.
You will also have the opportunity to observe and learn a variety of presentation styles from your peers.
- All presentations are recorded.
- Candidates and peers will participate in a Pros and Cons session after each presentation.
- Following each presentation, peers will complete a Peer Evaluation form.
- The ACE and the candidate will meet one-on-one to discuss detailed feedback.
ACI Workshop ResultsACI accreditation decisions are based on ACE and Peer Evaluation forms and reviews of the recorded presentations. Reviewers consist of the workshop ACE and other Autodesk Certification Evaluators, and may include members of Autodesk Education.
Autodesk takes great care and diligence in accurately assessing each candidate therefore results may take up to two (2) months to determine. All decisions will be communicated via e-mail.
How is the Workshop graded?During the ACI Workshop, candidates will be evaluated on Technical Skills, Lesson Effectiveness, and Presentation Skills using the following forms:
|Peer Evaluation Form (pdf – 132Kb)|
|ACE Evaluation Form (pdf – 97Kb)|
How long is ACI valid?
Autodesk Certified Instructor accreditation is valid for three (3) years for each product version however Autodesk recommends yearly recertification. The three-year certification period starts on the date you receive the ACI results via.
Although ACI for a particular software product and version is valid for a 3-year period, you are not considered current unless you have passed the latest exams. In order to remain current as well as receive the latest ACI benefits, we recommend yearly recertification.
For a minimal fee, existing ACI may recertify by successfully completing both the *Autodesk Associate/Professional exams as well as the Workbook and Workbook Knowledge test.
Cross-Certification is available to current ACI interested in obtaining ACI accreditation additional Autodesk products. To cross-certify, for a minimal fee, existing ACI must successfully complete both the *Autodesk Associate/Professional exams for the additional product as well as complete the Workbook and Workbook Knowledge test.
*Not applicable to Autodesk® Softimage® or the Creative Finishing product lines.
Candidates requesting to Recertify or Cross-Certifiy without having first successfully completed the current Autodesk Associate/Professional exams will automatically be rejected.
