Autodesk New Branding A Promising Future
Autodesk New Branding A Promising Future:
I’ve been following, using, learning & working with Autodesk Software way back from 1997, remember that’s when I joined my Mechanical Engineering Course @ Bangalore. Accidentally got introduced to Autodesk – ” AutoCAD Software “. That’s when my 4 year degree college purchased AutoCAD, as part of the curriculum & it was AutoCAD R14. I still remember, we saw the lab set up with 20 computers which was Intel PIII with 1.13 GHz processor, Huge Investment for AutoCAD & C Graphics. I never remembered the benefits that would give me today :-). Some how I developed interest in AutoCAD and started learning more and more.

After Engineering, I still did not stop working on AutoCAD and continued, this developed further interest in me and made me take up Master’s Degree in CAD / CAM. That’s when I joined VIT Vellore and completed my degree in the year 2003. Guess what I would have done ? I started working more now on Autodesk Inventor. I guess it was Autodesk Inventor V6.0 then. Since then I’ve been again working, following, learning Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD from 2003 till date. I’ve seen the company Autodesk has transformed from a basic 2D Company to a multi dimensional company spreading its wings in all walks of engineering – Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Architecture, Chemical, Media & Entertainment. I have seen the company growing in the above domains by purchasing new companies and strengthening existing products. I foresee this as a promising future both in terms of company development and also autodesk acting as a catalyst to the Industry, since I’ve been monitoring the company very closely since 1999 to till date. I’ve seen every year there are new releases in the software front and that has made the industry more mature today as compared to what I actually knew, way back in 1999.
Today Autodesk is the leader in 2D and 3D CAD industry and I guess they have defined their goals towards Cloud, BIM, Digital Prototyping. Since I’m from the Manufacturing side, I can confidently say today with the various acquisitions they have made; their goal towards Digital Prototyping is getting closer with the recent acquisitions like HSM Works slowly enhancing their CAM portfolio. Well, that does not leave there, their Cloud tools looks very promising to me especially the Inventor Optimization, Autodesk 360, Autodesk PLM and AutoCAD WS all are marching towards Cloud based solutions, making companies investment towards Hardware & IT slowly less and focusing on actual work in the cloud, when adopting Autodesk Technology. So this has resulted in people looking for cloud solutions and of course, enabling the project completion in time.
Now, this year I’ve seen Autodesk started re branding their logo. (Autodesk New Branding) Website – 2014 – Kind of followed the Origami Principles. In my opinion, I’m very confident that Autodesk is now working towards customer success by educating them about latest technology and how they can enhance their productivity.
” Change is inevitable and Change is for better ” I’ve see a lot of change in me since my college days and now adopt better engineering tools to quickly solve my daily design problems, after learning from tools that Autodesk develops. Imagine company like Autodesk which has 5000 + employees all have a common goal – enhance productivity in design, engineering, architecture and consumer domains. To make the trust strong its possible by showing changes and that change is now clear both on their software and their new Product portfolio Autodesk 2014.
I’m confident as a blogger, teacher, user, engineer, designer – Autodesk will transform the world by their product lines by 2020.
